For over 150 years the Royal has been a landmark to visiting
yachtsmen, and far travelled visitors offering traditional Scottish hospitality
and a warm welcome. The family-owned and family-run establishment has
comfortable bars with open fires and a restaurant where lovers of good
food and wine will appreciate jumbo prawns, clams, lobsters, mussels,
oysters and fish, which are off-loaded daily by local fishermen. Venison,
pheasant, rabbit, wild duck and various game birds are stalked locally
and are also featured on the menu. There is plenty to do in the area,
golfing, bird watching, walking, wind surfing, fishing and sailing (we
have our own private moorings and slip way) or just relaxing and unwinding.
The interior of the hotel has been tastefully decorated and refurbished
by the owners Roger and Bea McKie. The hotel has eleven individually furnished
bedrooms most with breathtaking panoramic views of Argylls rugged coastline
and the Island of Bute. Here is the ideal, and undemanding base from which
to observe the world go leisurely by. |
