The Glassary Guest House

The Glassary Guest House and Restaurant has been established since 1984. In 1997 an extensive upgrading and extending program was undertaken to both the guest house and the restaurant providing quality and comfort throughout. Guest House facilities are 2 single rooms and 2 double rooms all with en suite toilet and shower rooms and one twin bedded room with private bathroom. All 5 bedrooms have television, radio/alarm clocks, tea making facilities, electric blankets and electric heating. All bedrooms are beautifully furnished with pine furniture and there is a comfortable residents lounge with satellite television. Our fully licensed restaurant is adjacent to the guest house and is in fact a pine lined converted byre. A large conservatory gives beautiful panoramic views of the Atlantic ocean, machair and shore line, provides a delightful lounge bar and breakfast room. All meals are cooked by our professional proprietor/chef, from an extensive a la carte menu, using local produce. Tiree is the most westerly island of the Inner Hebrides and is completely unspoiled by commercialism. It claims to have more sunshine hours than any other part of the country and features regularly on the BBC weather charts. Crofting is still the mainstay and many neat thatched cottages can be seen sprinkled around the island. Twelve miles long by four miles broad the island is surrounded by long almost deserted silver beaches, which are reckoned to be amongst the top ten in the world. There is a predominance of wild life and flora to interest the visitor, and prehistoric forts, celtic burial stones and pre-reformation chapels are readily accessible. Tiree is a bird lovers paradise and many rare breeds, including the Corncrake, can easily be observed. Roads are good quality single track and holiday makers are advised to bring their cars, wlthough car and cycle hire facilities are available and can be arranged by us.
